What We Do?

We identify socio-economic and ecological needs of local people and the environment, across geographies in India, and present and deliver viable, practical, sustainable solutions that are led and driven by participating communities themselves.

How We Do?

Once an in-depth need assessment is undertaken, we develop an impactful model of engagement (MoE) that connects all concerned stakeholders, consults them and on-boards their inputs. This leads to development of a Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Message from Our Founder

Shri Jagdish Chandra Pant (1938 - 2025)

REACHA, a voluntary agency, was formed in March 1992 as a community-based organisation seeking to bridge the proverbial gap between government's proclaimed mandate for inclusive socio-economic development and people’s inherent aspiration to grow as per their needs. Over the years, the organisation has made genuine efforts to live up to its aims and objectives, and has undertaken impactful projects, and presented action-research modules that it has disseminated across the country.

Today, it has evolved into a vibrant institution that partners and collaborates on live projects with governments (center and the states), corporate CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), NGOs, academia and communities. These projects are well thought through, are need based, and seek to bring about transformational changes to the lives that they impact. They seek to also work in sync with mandated CSR as per Section 135, Companies Act 2013, read with Schedule VII of the same Act. In many ways, CSR since the year 2014 has provided much needed impetus to REACHA's efforts at catalysing positive social change, which is one of its prime objectives.

Our partnership with the Indian Army in Kashmir since 2016 and the success it has delivered is heart-warming. I would like to thank the Army establishment for giving us a chance to serve the country by strengthening its hands in a conflict zone, through our livelihood, culture, and rehabilitation programmes for youth in the Kashmir valley. These initiatives are a matter of great pride for the entire REACHA team.

My sincere thanks to corporate houses who have come forward to trust us and have supported us through their CSR and Social Impact initiatives. I assure them of the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and desired outcomes on behalf of the REACHA team.

I convey my best wishes.

Warm Regards,
Sri Jagdish Chandra Pant

About REACHA'S WORK in a Glimpse

Key Values and Thought Process

Thirst for Knowledge

Every child is unique. Our effort is to hear and learn from children, engage with them, and enable them to quench their thirst for knowledge. Inquisitiveness is intrinsic to childhood. This leads us to work closely with parents, teachers, schools and communities so that children are able to develop along lines of their own genius, develop holistically, and become creators of solutions to solve problems that the world faces.

Aspire to Create

The youth represent India of today. We are a young, growing nation. REACHA works to fulfil aspirations of the youth by developing impactful and sustainable models of socio-economic engagement through which the young can lead better lives, have fulfilling careers and create happy families. Each such model is collaborative and attempts to bring together local stakeholders on a common platform. Exploring to partner government, corporates and other civil society organizations remains a forever pursuit. We give special preference to women’s empowerment since this leads to a wide range of positive outcomes.

A key focus of our work with youth is to provide market aligned job placements as well as entrepreneurial opportunities. For the latter, we identify local community leaders and develop them to set up their own enterprises to not only enhance their own livelihood but provide jobs to others as well from the local community.

Inspire to Transform

We recognise the crucial role that teachers and trainers play in the learning process. Teacher training therefore forms an integral part of REACHA work. Our trainers are groomed to impart transformational pedagogy both in the classroom and outside that keeps the learner central to the learning process.

Each trainer is empowered to develop their own content through co-creation, experimentation, and engagement with learners.

At REACHA the trainer-trainee relationship is akin to time honoured Guru-Shishya Parampara – the tradition where the Master and the Student are inextricably linked to a dynamic process of teaching-learning-understanding-application for good.

Learn with Understanding

In our classrooms, core concepts of learning are imparted in an easy to assimilate manner. The ultimate objective is that every learner must learn with understanding. This implies that with the learning acquired, the learner should be able to apply it to real-world situations, and hopefully be enabled to develop solutions, create innovations and meaningfully contribute to making this world a better place for all to live and co-exist. Thus, we seek to inspire our teachers to transform the learner into change-makers!

Breaking New Ground

Our projects seek to present community-based solutions. It is our endeavour to break new ground in each of our efforts. This implies adopting innovative unique tools, working in difficult geographies like conflict zones, engaging with a cross-section of people and cultures to embed national integrative forces and always looking at ways by which local populations can themselves be empowered to break new ground and venture into unchartered terrain of sustainable development and peaceful co-existence.
